ABOUT 989READS
989READS is an initiative within the FACT Community-Based Care, Coordination & Resource Hub.
FACT functions as a community-based coordination infrastructure, connecting families, schools, and community partners across Saginaw County. Through 989READS, families are supported in navigating education systems, accessing resources, and strengthening literacy and engagement outcomes.
989READS does not provide direct services. It focuses on education advocacy, prevention, and resource navigation—ensuring families are connected to the right support at the right time.
FACT brings together families, schools, and community partners to advance education, literacy, and advocacy. Through 989READS, families are connected to tutoring and mentoring providers, literacy resources, and support systems for both children and adults.
This work is grounded in lived experience and peer navigation. Families are met where they are and supported as they build confidence, strengthen their voice, and take informed action.
The work we do outside the classroom;
makes it better inside the classroom.

HOW WE DO IT
Lunch and Learns
Lunch and Learn is a monthly cross-sector convening of education partners, community organizations, and peer support navigators.
FACT provides the coordination infrastructure for information exchange—creating space for partners to share insights, identify needs, and align efforts across the local ecosystem.
Sessions focus on real barriers impacting families, including access to literacy support, tutoring, and enrichment opportunities. Partners work together to strengthen pathways so families experience clear, connected access to support.
Mobile Mondays
Mobile Mondays is a monthly community engagement initiative under 989READS, held on the second Monday of every month in Saginaw County.
Through FACT’s coordination infrastructure, activities take place at after-school programs, neighborhood schools, libraries, and community spaces—meeting families where they are. Each event connects families with a broad ecosystem of partners.
Partners include:
Education and literacy organization
Early childhood and Head Start programs
Health and human service providers
Youth development and mentoring organizations
Family support and basic needs providers
Community-based and neighborhood organizations
Families participate in hands-on activities and connect directly to trusted resources and services. The focus is access, connection, and coordinated support. Everybody is welcome.

Education, literacy, and advocacy are central to FACT’s focus with families. FACT works alongside caregivers and children to strengthen reading skills, support school success, and build confidence in navigating educational systems. This includes literacy support for the whole family, because learning at home can shape outcomes at school.
Through advocacy and mentorship, including being your own best advocate, FACT builds stronger collaboration between families and educators. We prepare caregivers to ask informed questions, understand their rights, and take an active role in decisions that impact their children. The goal is clear: equip families with the tools and voice they need so students can succeed in stable, supportive environments.FACT operates within a collaborative community ecosystem, working alongside trusted organizations to strengthen coordination and expand access for families.
Through 989READS, this includes:
Workforce & Life Skills Connections: Connecting youth and families to programs that support independence and long-term stability
Workshops for Parents & Educators (Partner-Led): Connecting families and professionals to trainings provided by community partners
College, Career & Life Pathways: Helping families understand options and connect to opportunities
Collaborative Support Model: Aligning with organizations that provide direct services so families can access them effectively
