We partner with you so your voice shapes the support, not just the system.
FACT’s 989Reads is a resource that bridges families, schools, and community partners through ‘Power-Sharing’ to advance education, literacy, and advocacy. Power-Sharing means you’re not just told what your child needs, you help decide what actually works for your family. We collaborate with schools on IEPs, connect families with tutoring, mentoring, and literacy support. This work is strengthened by leadership with lived experience and peer support that meets families where they are.
Through peer navigation and key partnerships, we guide families as they build confidence, advocate for their children, and pursue personal growth. Families gain tools, voice, and practical support so they can move forward with clarity and long-term success.
989READS does not provide direct services. It focuses on education advocacy, prevention, and resource navigation, ensuring families are connected to the right support at the right time.
The work we do outside the classroom;
makes it better inside the classroom.

Through 989READS, FACT supports families in understanding systems, taking early action, and accessing the right support.

HOW WE DO IT
Lunch and Learns
989 Reads Lunch and Learn is a monthly gathering of education-focused partners and peer support navigators who come together to identify the educational needs of local families in Saginaw County. Schools, literacy leaders, and community organizations share what they are seeing and align efforts, so families experience clearer pathways, not confusion.
Each session focuses on practical solutions. Partners discuss barriers that prevent their families from accessing reading support, tutoring, or enrichment opportunities, then work together to remove them. The goal is simple. Make literacy support visible, connected, and easier for families to use so children can grow, read, and succeed.
Mobile Mondays
Mobile Mondays is a monthly community engagement event held on the second Monday of every month in Saginaw County.
We visit neighborhoods and schools across Saginaw County to meet families where they live. Each event brings together local families and students with a diverse group of partner organizations.
Families can expect hands-on activities, literacy-focused engagement, and opportunities to connect with community resources. It is designed for the whole family. Everybody is welcome!
Education, Literacy, and
Advocacy
Education, literacy, and advocacy are central to FACT’s focus with families. FACT works alongside caregivers and children to strengthen reading skills, support school success, and build confidence in navigating educational systems. This includes literacy support for the whole family, because learning at home can shape outcomes at school.
Through advocacy and mentorship, including being your own best advocate, FACT builds stronger collaboration between families and educators. We prepare caregivers to ask informed questions, understand their rights, and take an active role in decisions that impact their children. The goal is clear: equip families with the tools and voice they need so students can succeed in stable, supportive environments.
