Check out the latest from FACT!

THE FACT team has been busy meeting with leaders and influencers across the region and we have a TON of great news to share! We thought it was time for an update. Let us know if we can answer any questions and give us your feedback and thoughts.

Envisioning Groups Underway!

We have started our Prevention Envisioning Workgroup in Genesee County. With our advising partners from Family Justice Group, Dr. Milner and David Kelly, we have started defining goals. We also have upcoming Envisioning groups with Law Enforcement, In-Home Providers, Foster Parents, and churches. Saginaw County is also underway with the help of Dr. Craig Tatum. Spreading the word about FACT!

We have held several in-person meetings with key legislators over the past several weeks. All of these in-person meetings had the goal of spreading the word about FACT’s mission and defining our budget request. Some of these include and in no particular order, we have connected with:

  • Rep. Amos O’Neal - 94th House District, Saginaw

  • Rep. Jasper Martus - 69th House District, Flint

  • Rep.Cynthia Neeley - 70th House District District 70, Flint

  • Rep.Angela Witwer - 76th House District 76, Lansing

  • David Martin - 68th House District, Davison

  • Senator Sylvia Santana, 2nd Senate District 2, Detroit

  • Senator Kristen McDonald Rivet 35th Senate District, Saginaw

  • Senator Christine Morse, 40th House District 40, Kalamazoo

  • Senator Sarah Anthony 21st Senate District, Lansing

  • Rep. Mark Tisdale and Thye Fischman, 65th House District, Oakland County

These Legislators’ roles not only include representing our districts, but they also hold key committee positions for appropriations and Human Services. We also went door-to-door with Representatives and Senators and handed out information about FACT.

Partnership Updates

Dr. Milner and David Kelly continue to provide strong support, guidance and are very helpful. They are responsive to the needs of FACT. In addition to the Envisioning groups, we are working on the FACT messaging campaign, well-being Indicators, KPIs, FACT Theory of Change, and FACT Logic Model.

We also held meetings with Genesee Family Court Judge Ariana Heath (LINK) and University of Michigan Clinical Professor of Law, Vivek Sankaran (Info LINK). Their continued support will prove pivotal to the project.

One of the most exciting connections we made was with Saginaw Valley State University School of Social Work. We met with department leadership and started laying the groundwork for our project's evaluation. We will be setting up focus groups made up BY the community FOR the community.
