FACT APRIL RECAP

Dear Friends,

When FACT launched our monthly Loads of Love event in February 2025, we intended to help with a very basic household essential: clean clothes. As Loads of Love has evolved throughout the year, we quickly learned that being at the laundromat for three hours is much more than coming home with fresh laundry. It is an opportunity to unwind and relax with neighbors. It is a time to bridge generations together by inviting natural conversation and positive social support. It is a place to build community and strengthen our connections.

Loads of Love has blossomed into an event to create meaningful connections with families and coordinate on-site referrals to those in need. We are very thankful for our partners who have joined our Loads of Love journey thus far, and would like to invite you to do the same.

Please contact bridgitt@mi-fact.org to learn how you can become involved.

Kind regards,
Bridgitt

SVSU Longitudinal Study

FACT was recently presented with findings from the third year of an ongoing longitudinal study, conducted in partnership with the Saginaw Valley State University Department of Social Work. This work is among the first in the country to closely examine community-based prevention efforts over time. Graduate students shared independent analysis on how families experience FACT initiatives, along with changes in engagement and outcomes. We look forward to sharing more of these findings very soon, so stay tuned.

COMMUNITY EVENTS IN APRIL

Mobile Monday

Saginaw County's Pop-Up of Books, Fun, Food and Family Resources
April 13, 2026 - Brucker Preschool

Mobile Monday at Brucker Preschool brought families together in Bridgeport/Spaulding for an evening centered on access, literacy, and practical support. Children picked out free books and stayed engaged through hands-on activities, while caregivers connected directly with local partners and received clear information on available services.

Families left with essential items and on site referrals that addressed immediate needs. The setting made it easy to ask questions, build connections, and take next steps without barriers.

Youth engagement remained a strong part of the event. Art, creativity, and wellness activities. Students were active and involved throughout the evening with hands-on art as and crafts.

This event brought a wide group of community partners together in one place, creating a simple and effective way for families to access support. Thank you to Jolt Credit Union for sponsoring this month’s Mobile Monday, and to all partners and community organizations who showed up and contributed to a strong event.

Families then planted their own containers and helped the farm with seeds for the upcoming season. This event is part of the Growing Season initiative shaped through FACT’s Envisioning Group, focused on making food access and growing more visible and hands on for families.Kids remained fully engaged throughout the evening, moving from decorating and planting into hands on work at the farm. Families also had the opportunity to taste some of the vegetables they were learning to grow. Before leaving, caregivers received take home bags with seeds, information on protective factors, and materials focused on the value of growing and learning together as a family.Thank you to Edible Flint and Molina Healthcare of Michigan for sponsoring this event. Thank you as well to MSU Extension for providing books and entertainment for families throughout the evening.
