APRIL: Planting Day and Caregiver Dinner

Planting Day and Caregiver Dinner

April 22, 2026 - Edible Flint Educational Farm

April’s Planting Day and Caregiver Dinner at Edible Flint Educational Farm brought a full turnout, with families staying engaged well beyond the scheduled time. Children and caregivers started by choosing and decorating their own planting pots, adding creativity and personal expression before moving into the planting activities. Families then planted their own containers and helped the farm with seeds for the upcoming season. This event is part of the Growing Season initiative shaped through FACT’s Envisioning Group, focused on making food access and growing more visible and hands on for families.Kids remained fully engaged throughout the evening, moving from decorating and planting into hands on work at the farm. Families also had the opportunity to taste some of the vegetables they were learning to grow. Before leaving, caregivers received take home bags with seeds, information on protective factors, and materials focused on the value of growing and learning together as a family.Thank you to Edible Flint and Molina Healthcare of Michigan for sponsoring this event. Thank you as well to MSU Extension for providing books and entertainment for families throughout the evening. The weather, setting, and strong turnout made this a standout evening for families across the community.
