Hooked on Community: Fishing, Food & Fun in Flint
Location: Blue Gill Boat Launch, 4045 E. Coldwater Rd., Flint
Date: June 7, 2025
Event: “Hooked on Community” – Free Fishing & Caregiver Lunch
This event was truly something special. On June 7, hundreds of kids, caregivers, and community members came out to the Blue Gill Boat Launch for UAW Local 659 and Union Sportsman Alliance held their thrid Outdoor Free Fishing Day. FACT jumped on board with Molina Helathcare and invited our families too to the “Hooked on Community” Fishing Day—and it was an unforgettable experience.
Families lined the shore with fishing poles in hand, sharing laughs, catching fish, and making memories together. Thanks to generous support from our partners, the first 200 kids received a free fishing kit, helping many try the sport for the very first time.
Alongside the fishing fun, there was lunch, outdoor games, and connected caregivers with resources, all in a beautiful natural setting that reminded everyone how powerful time outdoors can be.
Why It Matters:
At FACT, we believe in building moments that bring families together, reduce stress, and create lasting joy. This wasn’t just about fishing and being outdoors; it was about connection, confidence, and community pride.
Our Favorite Part?
Seeing kids proudly hold up their catches from our mini-pools and magnetic fishing kits. Caregivers said, “What a great time for our family,” and watching new friendships form right there in the park.
What’s Next:
We’re already planning more outdoor family events. Until then—keep casting lines, spending time together, and staying connected with FACT.
