Families from across Genesee County joined Families And Children Together (FACT) on Monday, October 19th, for another great afternoon of 810READS Mobile Monday! This month's event took place at Summerfield Early Childhood Education Center in Flint, where families gathered for free books, food, activities, and a chance to connect with community organizations.
It was wonderful to see so many families come through the doors! Some were familiar faces from previous FACT events, while others were joining us for the first time. Kids enjoyed the activities, parents and caregivers had a chance to learn about local resources, and everyone had an opportunity to spend time together.
More Than Just Books and Pizza
Of course, the free books and pizza from our friends at Cottage Inn were a big hit! But what makes Mobile Monday special is everything happening around those activities.
Families had the opportunity to meet representatives from local organizations, ask questions, and learn about programs and support available throughout Genesee County.
Sometimes, all it takes is a conversation to help a family find something they have been looking for. That is a big part of why FACT started Mobile Monday.
By bringing community partners together in one welcoming location, we make it easier for families to find information, connect with people who can help, and discover opportunities they may not have known existed.
And the kids get to have some fun along the way!
A Community That Shows Up for Families
We want to thank Summerfield Early Childhood Education Center for welcoming FACT and our community partners into their school.
A special thank-you also goes to Cottage Inn for providing pizza for the kids and to the many community organizations that joined us to share information, answer questions, and meet families.
Most importantly, thank you to every family who stopped by. We loved seeing familiar faces, meeting new friends, and watching families make connections throughout the afternoon.
Mobile Monday Continues to Grow!
FACT launched 810READS Mobile Monday in September 2026 to bring the same kind of family-centered gathering that has been successful through 989READS in Saginaw County to families in Genesee County.
Each Mobile Monday brings together books, activities, food, and community resources in a setting where families can feel comfortable asking questions and getting to know the people and organizations around them.
We are excited to see more families discovering Mobile Monday, and we look forward to bringing these gatherings to more locations throughout Genesee County.
Be sure to check out the pictures from October's event. You might spot a few familiar faces!
