On September 23rd, FACT hosted Money MythBusters at the Saginaw County Community Support Hub with Financial Plus Credit Union. The evening brought together people from different stages of life, each with different experiences, questions, and ideas about household money. That mix made the conversation especially useful.
Instead of a lecture, the evening became an open discussion about the financial decisions families face every day. Participants talked about budgeting, credit, bills, planning ahead, and the different ways people approach money based on where they are in life. Families were able to ask questions, share experiences, and hear perspectives they may not have considered before.
Financial Plus Credit Union helped guide the conversation and brought practical financial knowledge to the table. The discussion was engaging enough that families, FACT staff, and the Financial Plus team all walked away with new ideas and insight. That is what made the evening so effective.
Children were also welcome and had money-focused activities of their own while caregivers took part in the discussion. The event gave families a comfortable place to talk about a subject that can sometimes feel difficult or personal, without judgment and without pressure.
Money MythBusters is part of FACT's effort to create useful, welcoming opportunities where families can learn, connect, and help shape future support. Feedback from the evening will also help FACT and its partners understand what financial topics families want to talk about next.
