On September 22nd, FACT welcomed families to the Genesee County Community Support Hub for Money MythBusters, a caregiver dinner and conversation presented with ELGA Credit Union.
The evening focused on real household money questions in a setting where families could talk openly, compare experiences, and learn from one another. Participants came from different stages of life and brought different perspectives to the table. That mix made the conversation especially useful. Families talked about everyday financial decisions, common money myths, budgeting, credit, and the pressures that can make managing household finances difficult.
ELGA Credit Union played an important role in the evening. Kayde from ELGA led the discussion, answered questions, and helped turn complicated financial topics into practical information families could use. ELGA also provided dinner, allowing caregivers to focus on the conversation while children enjoyed games and activities of their own.
The discussion also gave FACT and ELGA valuable input about the financial topics families want to explore next. Money MythBusters was designed to be more than a presentation. It created a comfortable place for families to ask questions, share what has worked for them, and leave with new ideas they could apply at home.
Events like Money MythBusters are part of FACT's work to create clear paths to support that already exists in the community. By bringing trusted partners directly to families, FACT helps make information easier to understand, easier to reach, and easier to put into action.
