Big (and Exciting) News from FACT

Greetings to you!

On behalf of Families and Children Together (FACT) and Ennis Center for Children, we would like to announce some more exciting news! We recently were named as a recipient of an Enhancement Grant in the FY-22-23 Michigan Budget. We are extremely excited to have this opportunity to utilize these funds and move our project implementation to Phase I.

Our passion for the improvement of integrated care and service for youth at risk of removal and/or in foster care is paramount. Our vision for the implementation of Community Based Care (CBC) is designed to address the following:

  • DECREASE the length of stay with out-of-home placements.

  • UTILIZE more robust PREVENTION programming to address cases that have the potential to be supported without removals.

  • ENGAGE with longer-term preservation/after-care support services to significantly reduce/eliminate recidivism.

By addressing the family unit and utilizing all available community resources, inclusive of medical/behavioral providers, education, and case management; we are inviting an entire network both in service and in financial assistance to provide for this family. Service is customized to meet the needs of the family where they are in their journey and evolves as they move through time in care. Our role as child welfare professionals in a CBC environment ensures that integration, accountability, and all available resources are meeting the needs of the family.

Our regional approach in Genesee and Saginaw counties leverages our local expertise to interact, partner, and implement a system of care with engaged community partners. We recognize the larger logistical challenges in creating a successful management network. Therefore, we are partnering with national experts who have successfully implemented Community-Based Care models specific to their states and they are sharing insights and expertise.

We would like to thank the many supporters who have remained steadfast to our mission. This includes the work of Senate Minority Leader Jim Ananich and his belief in our project. This is accompanied by FACT's Board President Phil Pavlov, Ennis Center's Board President Darren Simpson, Genesee County Circuit Court Judge Beagle, Dr. Bobby Mukkamala, Association of Accredited Child and Family Agencies (AACFA), Carl Latona, Embrace Families, Dr. Milner and Public Knowledge, and so many others. This is just the beginning of the journey to further develop and open doors to funding opportunities, and exploration of prevention and preservation programs that are mutually beneficial to Michigan children and families.

Thanks!
