February 2024 Updates

February 13, 2024

We hope this message finds you well and thriving in the new year. FACT Checks is back with our latest newsletter to keep you informed about the recent developments at Families And Children Together. Here's a glimpse of what's been happening since our last update in December:

1. GRANT APPLICATIONS: We're excited to share that we've taken proactive steps to secure additional funding for our initiatives. We've submitted applications for two grants from the Michigan Health Endowment Fund for Capacity Building and the Community Health Impact. These grants will play a crucial role in bolstering our efforts to serve the community effectively.

2. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PLANNING: In line with our commitment to community empowerment, we've applied for a grant from Hemlock Semiconductor's CARE Fund. This funding will support our upcoming community engagement events, including up to four Parent Cafés or Community Dinners. These events aim to provide recreation, fellowship, food, and educational opportunities to enhance community well-being.

3. UNIVERSITY CONNECTIONS: Building strong partnerships with local academic institutions is an important piece of our mission. We are pleased to further establish meaningful connections with our local universities. Our new connections with Michigan State University School of Social Work and Central Michigan Medical Education Partners are leading to exciting possibilities. These collaborations open doors to innovative opportunities for research, outreach, and community engagement.

4. STRENGTHENING COMMUNITY TIES: We've been actively engaging with various organizations in Saginaw and Genesee Counties to amplify our impact. Our recent partnerships include collaborations with Saginaw's CAN Council for their new endeavor with the Mobile Family Resource Center, Genesee County Prosecutors, Saginaw County Community Action Center, Genesee Wellness Services, Alignment Saginaw, and United Way of Saginaw County, among others. These partnerships reflect our commitment to collective action and community-driven solutions.

5. ENVISIONING GROUPS: Our monthly 'Envisioning Groups' continue to be a cornerstone of our community-building efforts. Held in both Saginaw and Genesee Counties, these sessions provide a platform for stakeholders to contribute ideas, share insights, and shape the future of our CBC programming. The enthusiasm and participation we've witnessed reaffirm the importance of collaborative decision-making in driving positive change.

We are immensely grateful for your ongoing support and partnership as we work towards our shared vision of a healthier, more vibrant community. Check out below to see some of our other happenings! As always, stay tuned for more updates and opportunities to get involved in the coming months.

Thank you for being a part of our journey.

Warm regards,

Bridgitt
