FACT AUGUST RECAP

Dear Friends,

August has been a month to remember for FACT. We highlight the launch of our FACT On The Go resource trailer and our first partnership with Mother Jones and the R.L. Jones Community Outreach Center in Flint. Over the last two Thursdays in August, we met more than 200 families from all over Genesee County. In partnership with this well-established food distribution, FACT On The Go supports by providing foundation garments for the family, children's coats, and personal care items. It was a powerful start, and we are excited to bring FACT On the Go to your neighborhood soon.

Throughout the month, our team participated in numerous resource fairs and back-to-school events across both Genesee and Saginaw Counties. We joined partners to give away school supplies, help fill backpacks, share valuable back-to-school information, and promote education and other supports that families can use as the school year begins. These events gave us the chance to meet hundreds of families and ensure children are starting the year prepared and confident.

Families also came together for two lively community Caregiver Dinners, FORE the Family putt-putt outing in Genesee and Putting Families First putt-putt in Saginaw County. With pizza, ice cream, and plenty of smiles, these evenings gave parents and kids the chance to relax, play, and strengthen relationships.

In Genesee County, our partners at Molina Healthcare joined us for another Loads of Love event by providing custom laundry bags and supplies while families visited, shared stories, and picked up helpful resources.

We also continued our recurring gatherings. Community Coffee Chats were held in both counties, and a new evening time for Mobile Mondays was welcomed and well attended. In addition, we were grateful to join many partners across the region who hosted back-to-school community resource events, helping hundreds of kids and families prepare for the transition into a new school year.

As always, thank you for walking with us on this journey. Every event, whether large or small, reminds us that families thrive when they have access to opportunities, support, and community.

Warm regards,

Bridgitt

August Community Events!

FACT On the Go is Rolling! Thanks to a generous Flint ReCAST grant, FACT launched FACT On the Go in August. We are grateful to the Flint ReCAST Community Advisory Board for trusting us to serve the Flint community and making this new mobile resource unit possible.

The mission of FACT On the Go is clear: bring resources directly to families where they live. That could mean clothing, personal hygiene products, household cleaning goods, bedding, or other essentials. By working with churches and community organizations, we meet families where they are and remove the barrier of transportation.

Our first partnership is with the R.L. Jones Community Outreach Center in Flint. Over the past two Thursdays, we have already reached over 200 families (around 800 individuals) from all over Genesee County with children’s foundation garments, cold-weather gear, and more.

We thank Mother Jones and her team for their dedication and for welcoming FACT to walk alongside them. FACT On the Go will continue at R.L. Jones a few Thursdays each month, bringing supplies, information, and support right into the neighborhood.

Much more to come in September with events in partnership with local churches as well!

Stay tuned!

Caregiver Dinner – Genesee County
FORE the Family

Families joined us at Cops and Robbers Great Escape on August 14th for an evening of putt-putt fun, Roma’s pizza (with those delicious breadsticks), and hand-dipped ice cream that everyone raved about. Alongside the games and food, families also picked up school supplies, household essentials, and helpful tips for a smooth start to the school year. It was a night filled with laughter, great food, and opportunities for families to relax, connect, and head into the fall feeling prepared.

Caregiver Dinner – Genesee County
”Putting” Families First – Saginaw

On August 21st, families gathered at Funway Amusement Park in Saginaw for our Putting Families First event. With pizza, laughter, and plenty of friendly competition on the putt-putt course, it was a night to remember. For some families it was their very first round of miniature golf! Along with the fun, families received school supplies, cleaning products, and back-to-school tips to start the year off right. Look at all the great photos! Dozens of families shared in the evening, creating memories and enjoying time together in a relaxed, family-centered space.

FREE Community Laundry Day – ProClean Pierson Rd.
Loads of Love – Flint

On August 19th, we gathered at ProClean on Pierson Road in Flint for another Loads of Love event. Dozens of families came out to take care of their laundry, share stories, and enjoy the camaraderie that comes from spending time together. In partnership with Molina Healthcare, they provided custom laundry bags, detergent, and other supplies for families to use. These simple moments continue to remind us how powerful it is when families have space to connect and feel supported.

Community Events & Back-to-School Fairs

August was a full month of outreach for FACT! In addition to our ongoing Community Coffee Chats in both counties and Mobile Mondays with the Saginaw Public Libraries, our team joined many partners across the region for a wide range of community resource fairs. These events, graciously hosted by organizations like Gospel Fest, United Way of Saginaw County, Victorious Believers, United Way of Saginaw County, GLBH, Voices for Children, Clio Schools, and more, gave families the chance to gather supplies, meet providers, and prepare for the school year. FACT joined others in giving away school supplies, helping fill backpacks, sharing back-to-school information, and promoting education and community resources to support families as they transition into the fall. We are grateful to our partners for creating these opportunities, and we are excited to continue working together to ensure every child has what they need to start the year strong.
