FACT SEPTEMBER RECAP

Dear Friends,

Over the past few months, FACT’s Concrete Supports program has helped hundreds of people facing some of life’s hardest challenges. Families came to us on the verge of homelessness, water shut-offs, and power shut-offs. By connecting them to resources and working as a team, we were able to stabilize situations before they reached a breaking point. Again and again, we saw the resilience of families as they worked to overcome hardships. This experience has made it clear that families need help with the basics, especially with rent and utility bills.

It is also important to note how rewarding it has been to walk alongside families in these moments, to know them better, meet them on their level, and to share in their determination to keep moving forward. Each connection reinforces how FACT’s mission is alive and well. We are in the right place, doing the right work, and standing with families exactly where they need us most. I am very proud of the FACT staff, who worked tirelessly and with incredible dedication to make sure families were cared for. Their energy, commitment, and determination have been nothing short of inspiring, and it shows in every family interaction.

September was also a month filled with meaningful events that brought families together. In Saginaw, we gathered with The Salvation Army for Family Game Night, where families enjoyed food, laughter, and quality family time playing games. Genesee families explored science and discovery at Sloan Museum during our Night of Discovery, creating moments of learning and wonder. Across both Genesee and Saginaw counties, Community Coffee Chats gave neighbors a chance to connect over conversation, while Mobile Mondays in Saginaw brought local resources right to our Community Service Hub. Families also tumbled together at our Loads of Love laundry days, where the simple act of clean clothes lifted a weight off many households.

FACT On The Go! continues to be a powerful way to meet families where they are. In September alone, our bright red trailer attended seven events with our community partners and churches, providing supplies, resources, and information. We were also proud to join the Grand Blanc Homecoming Parade, sharing information about FACT and handing out candy to a large gathering of parade goers. This growing movement is creating new partnerships and new opportunities to strengthen our community every day.

Warm regards,

Bridgitt

September Community Events!

FACT On the Go Keeps Moving!

FACT On The Go is making a real difference in neighborhoods across Genesee County. This September, our mobile unit connected with over 2,200 people from over 730 households, of which 358 had children, providing essentials like personal care items, bath towels, cleaning supplies, and household goods.

Thanks to strong partnerships, we were able to reach families through R.L. Jones Community Outreach Center, Joy Tabernacle, Good Church YoungLiving youth group, Church Without Walls, Clio Community Church of God, and even during the Grand Blanc Homecoming Parade, where our trailer handed out candy and information to families along the route.

The mission of FACT On The Go remains simple but powerful: bring resources directly to families where they are, break down barriers of transportation, and walk alongside them. FACT On The Go continues to grow, and each month we see new opportunities to connect with families and strengthen our community.

Caregiver Dinner – Saginaw County

Family Game Night

On September 24th, FACT partnered with the Salvation Army of Saginaw to host Family Game Night, bringing families together for a meal, games, and plenty of laughter. Families connected not only with each other but also with their neighbors, creating new friendships and memories. The night was filled with fun competition, a little silliness, and a lot of smiles. We are grateful to the Salvation Army for inviting us into their space and look forward to bringing families together for another game night in the future.

Night of Discovery

Our Genesee County Caregiver Dinner this month took families to the Sloan Museum of Discovery for a "Night of Discovery." For many, it was their very first time visiting the museum, including a few families who are brand new to our community. The evening was filled with hands-on exploration, laughter, and the joy of parents and children learning side by side. Thanks to our great partners at Molina Healthcare of Michigan, families also shared a delicious meal from Italia Gardens before diving into the exhibits. Nights like these remind us how powerful it is to create spaces where families can connect, explore, and simply enjoy time together.

Community Event – Genesee County

Loads of Love Free Community Laundry Day ProClean - Pierson Road, Flint

Families gathered at ProClean on Pierson Road in Genesee County on September 16th for another Loads of Love community laundry day. With support from our friends at Molina Healthcare of Michigan, households were able to wash clothes, bedding, and more, lifting a major burden for families working hard to stretch their budgets. The day was filled with conversations, connections, and the relief of clean laundry ready to take home.

Community Event – Saginaw County

Loads of Love Free Community Laundry Day Wash King - Williamston Rd, Saginaw

On September 18th, FACT hosted Loads of Love at Wash King in Saginaw. Families came in to do their laundry while also receiving snack bags and information about local resources. The response was strong, and we are excited to keep making this support available in more neighborhoods.

Schools, Mobile Mondays, and Coffee Chats

September was also a big month for outreach in schools and at the Hub. FACT joined UM-Flint at the Citywide College Resource Fair, connected with families at Eagles Nest Academy, partnered with Bendle/Carman-Ainsworth Early Head Start, and joined the Back-to-School Bash at Saginaw Covenant Academy. Each event gave us a chance to meet students, caregivers, and educators right where they are.

We also kept the momentum going with Mobile Mondays at the Saginaw Hub, where an incredible lineup of partners joined FACT to make the Hub a one-stop trip for families. From books and food to activities and resources, families could walk away with everything they needed in one visit.

And as always, our Community Coffee Chats in Genesee and Saginaw gave neighbors the chance to gather, share their voices, and tell us firsthand what matters most. Listening to families and the wider community keeps FACT focused and ensures we stay grounded in the needs right in front of us.

IMPORTANT NOTICE!

We are moving back into our regular space at the Flint Hub. The transition is a slow but steady process, and we expect to be fully settled soon.
