JULY: Stretching Into Connection: Calm and Connected Yoga at Flint Public Library

On July 23rd, Families And Children Together (FACT) welcomed families into the bright, modern space of the Gloria Coles Flint Public Library for an evening that was a little quieter, a little slower, and deeply meaningful.

Our Calm and Connected Yoga event offered a peaceful pause in the middle of a busy summer. Led by Felicia Campbell, families were guided through gentle yoga movements and simple breathing techniques to calm the body and center the mind. Children and caregivers moved side-by-side, laughing through balancing poses, stretching out tight muscles, and learning ways to carry calm into their daily routines.

The experience was soothing, but also powerful. In a world that often asks families to stay in constant motion, this evening was an invitation to slow down—and to do it together.

After the session, participants gathered for a light and healthy dinner, sharing conversation and laughter around the table. The warm energy in the room made it clear: this was more than a yoga class, it was a moment of connection.

We’re so thankful to Felicia for her calming presence, and to our friends at Great Start for helping create such a welcoming space. At FACT, we know that wellness comes in many forms. On this night, it looked like deep breaths, shared mats, and community around the dinner table.
