Celebrating Champions for Children at the 30th Annual Award Breakfast

On the morning of March 19th, community leaders, advocates, and caregivers gathered in Flint for a truly inspiring event: the 30th Annual Children’s Champion Award Breakfast, hosted by our dedicated partners at Voices for Children Advocacy Center. FACT was proud to be in the room, standing alongside so many who work tirelessly to protect and uplift children across Genesee County.

The event honors individuals and organizations who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to supporting children—especially those who have experienced abuse and neglect. These champions are a vital force in our community, helping to ensure every child is safe, seen, and surrounded by care.

Our CEO, Bridgitt McCaughey, had the honor of presenting the Caring Adult Award, which recognizes an individual who has made a meaningful, lasting impact in the lives of local youth. Bridgitt’s words reflected not only our shared mission with Voices for Children but also FACT’s deep belief in the power of trusted adults to transform a child’s world.

In addition to honoring adult advocates, the breakfast also celebrated the next generation of leaders. Eight local high school students received scholarships for their academic achievement and service, showing that the spirit of compassion and commitment is thriving in our youth. Their stories moved many to tears and reminded us of what is possible when young people are empowered to lead and give back.

The morning served as more than an awards ceremony—it was a call to action. As Nyse Williams, President of Voices for Children, shared, “In the last 60 days alone, our center has seen over 76 new children. We need the community to rally around the children in their neighborhoods to make an impact.”

FACT is proud to be part of that rally. We believe that by showing up, speaking out, and standing together, we can build a future where every child is protected, nurtured, and given the opportunity to thrive.
