Endorse Families And Children Together
Ennis Center for Children, a private nonprofit child welfare agency, understands that a community-based approach increases the family’s and a community’s ability to succeed and avoids deeper involvement in the system. This approach strengthens families instead of splitting them up.
FACT is a non-profit launched by Ennis for the purposes of . . .
Prevent the need for families to enter Child Welfare.
Provide a much different experience for those involved.
FACT (Families and Children Together) is developing an organized and diverse network of agencies across Genesee and Saginaw Counties with the goal of supporting a coordinated and effective way of meeting the needs of children and families. Coordinate funding streams including a single-source Child Specialty Health Plan (CHSP). Leverage new technology to bridge a connection for families, agencies, courts, school districts, and more.
COORDINATE family support before entry into the system by establishing and sustaining close partnerships with churches, community organizations, school districts, medical providers, universities, legal services and any other identified available networks.
NURTURE culturally appropriate support services to ensure that families are related to and treated respectfully within the context of their backgrounds, beliefs, and values.
NORMALIZE the foster care experience by reframing it as a support for the entire family as opposed to a substitute for parents.
INCREASE the number of families staying safely together, enhancing child and family well-being
REDUCE the confusion of poverty as neglect
REPORT more robust outcomes that measure key performance Indicators and examine the longitudinal effects of this model
Families and Children Together provides a more comprehensive way to integrate and wrap services around children and their families. Its outcomes, combining medical and behavioral health services, will address unmet needs and yield a system that emphasizes applying specific prevention resources and families first interventions as quickly as they are diagnosed. This approach has proven effective in a number of other states.
