OUR VISION
To create a balanced and blended approach to supporting families where families share ownership in the approach and feel safe, knowledgeable and empowered to reach out to resources, and where the network partners work in full collaboration and exchange with each other.
FACT has two goals:
Prevent the need for families to enter the Child Welfare system
Provide a much different experience for those who are involved in the system
OUR KEYNOTE SPEAKER – Dr Mona Hanna-Attisha
Author, activist, and pediatrician, Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha has an endowed professorship in public health at Michigan State University, and she is the founding director of the Pediatric Health Initiative. For her role in the Flint water crisis, she was named on of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People in the World and recognized by USA Today as one of its Women of the Century. She is the author of What the Eyes Don’t See: A Story of Crisis, Resistance, and Hope in an American City.
FORUM INFORMATION
Join us for an interactive conversation with experts including Dr. Jerry Milner, David Kelly and leaders from the Saginaw and Genesee County communities. Networking activities and open-forum discussions are designed to build and enhance community-wide coordination of services and supports with a focus on prevention.
FACILITATORS
Dr. Jerry Milner and David Kelly of The Family Justice Works are co-leading a charge for transforming our existing child welfare systems. Dr. Milner recently held the title of Associate Commissioner at the Children’s Bureau. Mr. Kelly also worked with the Children’s Bureau leading the bureau’s work with the legal and judicial community nationally.
