FACT JUNE RECAP

Dear Friends,

I want to share a few recent stories of support, resilience, and caring for the needs of the community. These real moments from the past few weeks remind me why this work matters and why our team keeps showing up the way we do.

A community caregiver in Genesee and another in Saginaw came to us with different ideas to engage community support. Through personal and professional experiences, they wanted to start a support group so families can navigate different types of challenging situations. They approached us to see how we could help and we offered our Community Support Hubs to use as a free meeting space, including making a connection for a subject matter expert. Recently, the first gatherings were held, and they were very successful. These are great examples of partnering and nurturing ideas the community can build on.

On two separate occasions, we have learned that organizations are using our community events as an alternate way to connect with families as part of outreach. This was a great opportunity to work in harmony with the families on life skills and further explore family strengths and needs. Community partners were also able to make connections with new families that expressed the need for help because of the interactions they witnessed. True, real-time, organic supports.

Finally, a few days ago, a parent asked if we could be present and support them at a very stressful official engagement. Our team member did not hesitate. They immediately cleared their busy schedule to be there as support. No fanfare. No special program. Just a person who needed someone in their corner, and a team member who decided that support this person mattered most. Oh, and it may have helped! The outcome went well!

These are just a few of many stories that happen to our partners and us every day. When we truly engage and pay attention to what the family is asking, be consistent and complete with our solution, and be genuine and curious with our follow-up, the family will find their own way to success. Families are more comfortable and trusting when they see consistency and follow-through.

Kind regards,
Bridgitt

Terricina Jackson Featured on WNEM TV5 Focus on 5

One of our own took center stage on Tuesday, June 30th, when Terricina Jackson sat down with WNEM TV5 for a segment on Focus on 5.

Terricina shared her personal story, one that stretches from Saginaw all the way to Ghana, and centers on something we believe in deeply at FACT: the power of speaking your dream out loud and taking the next clear step toward it. Her conversation was a reminder that connection, relationships, and a willingness to move forward can open doors none of us could have predicted.

Terricina is an inspiration to her FACT teammates, the families we serve, and the partner providers we work alongside every day. Her willingness to share her story publicly reflects the same courage we see her bring to her work.

JUNE COMMUNITY EVENTS

FOOD SMARTS Community Caregiver Dinner
Presented by the Crim Fitness Foundation

Shop, Cook, Taste....Challenge!
June 3, 2026 - North Flint Food Market

As part of our continued Growing Season effort, we collaborated with the Crim Fitness Foundation who presented their Food Smarts program at North Flint Food Market. This was a hands-on dinner built around shopping smart and eating well on a budget.

Caregivers participated in a two-part event to include a live interactive cooking demo and a shopping challenge. This gave families the chance to pick up real tips on comparing prices, planning meals, and choosing healthy, affordable foods. A free dinner was provided for everyone who attended. We ended the night by raffling off large crockpots to two lucky winners.

Free Fishing, Outdoor Activities and Lunch!
June 6th, 2026 - Blue Gill Boat Launch, Flint

On June 6th, FACT collaborated in the UAW Local 659 and the Union Sportsmen's Alliance's Get Youth Outdoors Day at the Blue Gill Boat Launch in Genesee County for a free day of fishing, outdoor activities, and lunch.

We reached out to our families and invited them to join the day. While children fished, built birdhouses, kayaked, tried archery, and watched bird-of-prey demonstrations, FACT staff were on hand to connect with parents and caregivers and share information about available services.

It was a great day, and we are grateful to our partners for including us.
